Petra is the archaeological jewel of the Kingdom of Jordan, proclaimed one of the Seven Wonders of the World in 2007. Yet long before it became a destination for travelers, Petra was the home of the B’doul Tribe—a semi-nomadic people who, for generations, lived among its caves, tombs, and ancient dwellings. Despite the state’s efforts to relocate them to a new settlement, many members of the tribe resist leaving behind an identity woven inseparably into Petra’s stones and into their semi-nomadic life in the desert.
